Level 5 Advanced Diploma Program

  • Overview

    If you want to complete year 2 of an IT International Degree Journey or seek employment with an internationally recognised qualification and enhanced skills in areas such as programming, systems analysis and design and software development, then this programme is for you.

    This advanced diploma has been designed for students to analyse and gain a deep understanding of effective business information systems, analyse the architecture of database systems and learn how to address the physical design and database administration of complex database systems in the real world.

    • Develop a bespoke software system

    Increase your knowledge and learn about the design, implementation and testing stages involved in developing a software system 'in industry' or for a company.

    • Learn key evaluation skills

    Gain the confidence to critically evaluate and test complex computer systems.

    • Enhance your communication skills

    Learn how to present professionally reasoned arguments that address information handling opportunities within the workplace.

  • Entry Requirements

    You must have at least one of the following:

    • NCC Education Level 4 Diploma in Computing/BIT(L4DC/L4DBIT)
      • A local or international qualification deemed to be equivalent to the NCC Education IDCS programme. This shall be agreed in advance with NCC Education.

      Applicants who are not NCC Education graduates or whose first language is not English will require either the minimum standard in the NCC Education Higher English Placement Test HEPT (please contact your Centre for further information) or a valid score of 5.5 or above in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination or equivalent.

    • Learning Outcomes
      • Knowledge and understanding of the established principles of computer systems development and management, and of the way in which these principles have developed
      • The ability to apply your skills and aptitudes to the analysis, design, implementation and management of computer systems, to solve business and organisational problems
      • The ability to contribute to the implementation of such systems within an agreed timescale and within agreed cost estimates
      • The ability to manage the operation of such systems and the needs of the user community
      • Awareness and understanding of the wider issues concerning the use and integration of computer systems in society at large
      • Knowledge and understanding of a well-developed set of problem-solving and analytical skills which can be applied in the pursuit of a wide range of occupations, and in further study
      • The ability to effectively communicate and present ideas and describe and evaluate systems in both written and oral forms

    • Academic Progression

      The qualification allows entry to either NCC Education's final year top-up programmes in IT (BSc BIT) or the final year of many UK university programmes of study.
